Abstract

Vladivostok is a typical example of city with complex terrain and with limited area available for building. It is a territory where selective modern building within the existing built-up areas requires engineering leveling of area. This still leads to building of retaining walls - engineering structures that actively invade in formation of coherent environment, sometimes occupying a large area in expanded panoramas of the city. Retaining walls could be comparable to size of house facades and natural urban landscapes. The territory of VSUES campus represents a typical example of building on complex terrain, that allows to use this area as experimental site.
